The President’s Message
Well here we are running fast into the Festive season, love it, where has the year gone. Everyone at WTC is looking forward to a break, well a small break as we have so much to look forward to and plan in 2016. Still before we rush into our 2016 Season of shows the team at WTC have taken the chance to look back on 2015 and give you a snap shot of what we have done this year. Of course you will find a piece on our 2016 season of shows. For me it’s been a busy year leading WTC as well as assisting Alaine Beek our Creative director with her Essence Productions, supporting Werribee Secondary College with the after school Drama Club and Auditorium upgrades and new Recital Centre. I was particularly honoured to receive the Wyndham Volunteers Award for Cultural, Arts and Tourism. It was a great evening with such inspiring award winners in each category.
A special thankyou to our committee and all the behind the scenes people who work hard to keep the company moving.

2015 Wyndham Volunteer of the year
You may not have met him but it’s likely that his work in the community has touched your life or the lives of someone that you know.
With over 20 years of community service, Walter Villagonzalo is often referred to as the ‘go-to person’ for local community information.
In fact, it is this knowledge and his passionate for helping others that have endeared him to many people in the community, and was one of the many reasons that he was named as the 2015 Citizen of the Year.
Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Peter Maynard said that Walter was a very worthy recipient of this award.
“Every year we are fortunate to have so many deserving and high performing volunteers and this year is no exception,” Cr Maynard said.
“Walter has made an outstanding contribution to the community and was recognised for his work with the migrant community which includes providing accommodation and support to asylum seekers, and motivating new migrants to use their skills to start small businesses and create local jobs.”
“Walter was one of six individuals in the running for the award after also being named Wyndham’s Community Engagement winner for 2015.”
Also competing for the Citizen of the Year Award were ‘Community Health & Wellbeing’ award winner Bev Morrissey, ‘Culture, Arts & Tourism’ award winner Alan Thompson, ‘Environment & Sustainability’ award winner Craig Castree, ‘Sport & Recreation’ award winner Rebecca Nix and our Young Volunteer of the Year award winner Khurram Jahangir Khan.
The Migrant HUB took out the honours for a new award introduced this year, the Community Group Award.
In his acceptance speech Walter said he was honoured to receive the award, and congratulated all of the category winners,

2016 Theatre Season
We have a fabulous line up of productions for you in 2016. We will kick off with Legally Blonde Jr our first full youth production following on from our One Night Only production showcase this year.This will be followed up by

This fast moving comedy by Britain’s recognized “master of farce,” was nominated for the 2002 Olivier and Evening Standard Awards for Best New Comedy. “… a sheer joy from beginning to end.” (Daily Telegraph)
November -The Lyons – by Nicky Silver - Directed by Robert Harsley
The Lyons premiered on Broadway at the Cort Theatre in 2012
Ben Lyons is in a hospital where he is dying from cancer. His family gathers around him. They are his wife, Rita, and grown children, Curtis Lyons and Lisa Lyons. Also present is his nurse. Ben is no longer constrained by manners and says whatever he wishes, including expletives. Rita, trapped in a 40-year loveless marriage, now thinks of the future without Ben and plans to re-decorate. Lisa is an alcoholic, who has left an abusive marriage; Curtis, homosexual, has had little to do with his father, who is homophobic. In a getaway from the hospital, Curtis looks at an apartment with the help of an actor moonlighting as a real estate agent.
Variety reviewer wrote: "The basic joke of Silver's savage comedy is that the characters are given license to speak their private thoughts out loud ...
In reviewing the Broadway production, theatremania.com called the play "deliciously dark and hilarious."

Maintenance
The one thing that you do get done when you are not in production mode is to get to it and clean your lights which means getting them off the lighting bars, opening them up, cleaning the lenses and dases and if need give them a quick coat of fresh paint. We had put this off for too long so Christian and Alan got to it and were the lamps embarrassingly dusty. Looking much better now.

We also took the opportunity to upgrade and audio system. Thanks to Christian’s expertise we now have a compact state of the art system easy to access and adjust if needed. Well done Christian.
