Say It Out Loud

Say It Out Loud

About the Program

Our new 'Say It Out Loud' Program is aimed at helping budding artists to become comfortable with constructive critique to improve their craft. 2-3 short works will be chosen to be reviewed each session and read live by attending members who will then give feedback on the pieces.

A vital process for developing writers. Our aim is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for writers to have their writing
in work in progress read out loud, workshopped through a skilled facilitator and developed with a group of like-minded keen individuals. The name of the program ‘Say it out Loud’ reflects the exciting process of having your work actually read out loud. It also reflects the mental courage
of, for what is to many, the very daunting task of exposing your own work – of learning to be comfortable and fully invigorated by the critique and development process.

Short Works Series

About the Program

Our short works series is now in its third year and it has gone from strength to strength. Our short works are a mixture of 10-20 minute plays. This year we are really focussing on original work from local people. This is a show you do not want to miss. Auditions are happening soon.

Whether you are a new playwright looking to have your work performed, a new director who wants to learn the ropes or a new actor who is looking to start on tredding the boards then the short works series is perfect for you. Of course it is also great for experienced directors and actors to get involved in and sink your teeth into interesting characters and works of theatre.

So what is a 'Short Work'?

A short work is a 10 - 20 minute play. They can be incredibly complex or simple. They are a challenge to both the writer, director and actor as you are telling a story in such a limited amount of time.
